So.... I am OFFICIALLY a nerd. Some of the stuff I do is just ridiculous. Like this weekend, I made a list of everything I would be wearing for the week. I planned out each day with what I'd wear (down to which socks, belts, and shoes) and started using my old organizer again. Although it could just be laziness (if I plan everything I don't have to do laundry again for a week and a half =D), I like to think of it as nerdiness.
I have to write a speech for next week so of course a majority of my time has been spent researching for it. I've been 'researching' for it. =D A majority of my time is spent on facebook with another large quantity spent on icanhascheezburger sites and etsy.com. One seller on etsy has lightsaber earrings, and they definitely amuse me.
Nothing like some good 'ol fashioned procrastination. I figure as long as I get the speech done by midnight the night before it's due to the teacher from the school I'm speaking at, I'll be good. =)

Google Stuffs
Okay, so we all know that I'm HIGHLY amused by the Google Doodles. But did you know that you could actually win $15,000 for college and $25,000 for your school if they pick yours as the winner?
Crazy, huh?
All you have to do is fill out the application, draw your doodle on an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet of paper, and mail it to Google Headquarters. There are some requirements as for the actual rules, but nothing too strenuous. The theme this year is 'What I'd like to do someday', and you only have to submit a 50 word 'essay' on the theme with your entry! =)
Judges this year are to include Whoopi Goldberg, Jim Davis, and Evan Lysacek as well as other cartoonists, animators, and illustrators.
If I had any artistic talent at all, I'd be entering, but I don't, so hopefully someone else will take a chance on it. =)

Haha, made ya look! Really click here for the link. =D -----> http://www.google.com/doodle4google/

The Great Scholarship Safari
As I've been looking for scholarships, I've often felt like I've been on an odd safari. It's a constant search for money and simply a way to pay for college. It's an expensive proposition; As students, we could be expected to drop nearly 20K (or in the case of the University of Illinois, nearly 30K) per year. That's a lot for a student to handle.
With the FAFSA, students at least know that there is a possibility of some federal or state aid for school.
There are also free websites like fastweb.com, cappex.com, and zinch.com to help with the scholarship search. You put some background-type information into your profile, and they match you with the scholarships that fit the description you provided. Each of these sites has been a huge help in finding things that match my information.
Another tried and true method is the google search. Put in a couple descriptive words (like scholarship for girls, scholarship for piano players, scholarships for zoology, whatever fits what you're looking for) and see what comes up. I've found a ton of things that way, and you often find scholarships that not many people have applied for.
Paying for college is going to be tough, but for many students it's the next step to getting the job they want. Hopefully with some diligent scholarship safari-ing, we'll all be able to pay for it without taking out buckets of student loans. =)

Memories
My life is crazy random. Every day is a new adventure, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. But it is what it is and I enjoy it. I'm really not sure where I'm headed with everything, so this blog is pretty just going to be what happens in my life. It'll be what intrigues me, the interesting things I stumble upon, and simply whatever comes to mind.
The other day in resource, we were reminiscing about grade school. It was so weird to think about those times and how dumb we were back then. We could remember the stupid things we did best. Like when a girl threatened me because I asked her not to make fun of Daniel. Or when Bryce accidentally broke Travis's teeth. And when we had a new kid in our class accidentally call a female teacher 'Mr.'. At archery the other night, I got to spend some time with a few 8th graders from PGS. We talked about the teachers, and the assignments they were doing that I remembered, and just overall what I missed about grade school.
I realized that I do miss some aspects of Potomac Grade School. I miss recess, the library there, band, and playing every sport offered. I don't miss walking in lines, though, or being stuck in the same room all day, or the options that come with high school, or the petty drama. Driving is pretty awesome, too. I'll definitely take High School over Grade School any day, but it's fun to relive old memories.
